Hanging with Jennifer Lawrence and Getting a New Job!

I would first like to let it be known that I am writing this post while listening to Christmas music. Yes, I know it is still November. No, I don't care. I have had snowflake fairy lights up in my room since before Halloween. Okay, now that that's out of the way...

We're less than a week from Thanksgiving! It's been a little strange planning Thanksgiving in London. On the one hand, it really isn't that hard to find normal Thanksgiving meal fare here in England (I've even found an abundance of cranberries which I almost started crying about when I first found them at Waitrose. I don't think I am helping to end the "crazy/stupid/weird American" stereotypes over here...) but it is just different. This is the first Thanksgiving I'll be spending away from my family, but on the other hand, I've stumbled upon another family (namely a bunch of other crazy/weird Americans attending the same Uni as me) which I am so grateful to have. And isn't that what Thanksgiving is all about anyway?

Okay, so, let's catch up since the last blog post.

I went on some more sight seeing of London. I went with one of my flatmates right before she went back home to the states. We went to Borough Market, which neither of us had been to before, but was completely amazing. There was so much food and excitement and variety and it was overwhelming to say the least. I ended up getting a vegan falafel pits sandwich which was hands down the best falafel I had ever had. I also got a dairy free brownie which made my heart (and my stomach!) very happy. We also saw Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, and the likes again. It was dark and chilly but overall such a good day.

I think the most exciting thing that happened was attending The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 premiere in Leicester square a few weeks back. In typical London style, it rained most of the evening, completely drenching us in freezing rain, but as soon as the celebrities started arriving it was totally worth it.

If you're not following me on snapchat you really should be. Just sayin...
Our view of the stage before all the excitement started!
We didn't have wristbands so we weren't very close, but we did end up getting a pretty good view of the stage where the main stars of the movie got interviewed, which was beyond amazing. That night I got to see Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Natalie Dormer (from GoT! I totally fangirled over her), Stanley Tucci, Josh Hutcherson (who is the absolute cutest thing in the whole wide world), LIAM HEMSWORTH, Sam Claflin (who is also the cutest thing in the world) and of course, the one and only Jennifer Lawrence.

JLaw! She's my spirit animal
The incredible and absolutely stunning Elizabeth Banks

Other than that, there hasn't been a whole lot of crazy stuff happening. It's been a lot more of continuing to settle into my routine of life in London, meeting new people, and doing stuff a little closer to home. I've figured out my new favourite running routes through Richmond Park (1.8 miles to Waitrose if you cut through the park fyi), and have found a couple new vegan recipes, some that work and some that don't.

Richmond Park one foggy morning. It was absolutely magical
Casual Ferrari. I took this while sitting on the bus. The struggle is real.
I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but every Friday on campus the Student Union here on campus hosts this dance/party thing called Bop. I know it sounds really stupid, but it's actually a ton of fun because tons of people go and there's a different theme each week and it's really nice to just be able to walk home at 2am instead of worrying about catching the tube and then a bus and then still having to walk. So anyway, I've gone to about... five Bops now? Halloween Bop was a crazy event, and this is when I found out that nobody in England really knows what a flapper is. I just ended up telling people I was Daisy from the Great Gatsby. I guess the roaring 20's was just an American thing. See, you learn something new every day!

All dressed up for Halloween Bop! That night was... interesting to say the least
And now I guess the only other thing to mention now is that I got a job! I am going to be working as an Educator for Lululemon! It's been quite the process getting this job, but I gotta say that I do love the perks (*cough cough* discount) which is easy to see considering I am sitting here wearing new Lululemon yoga pants and shirt. Don't judge. I'm a little hesitant about having a job and juggling school and social events, but I think actually having more structure in my weeks will be good for me. Plus, it'll be nice getting paychecks again! Gotta pay for trips to Europe somehow!

I think that's about it! Things have been pretty tense in London since the Paris attacks, but so far nothing has really changed, which I'm grateful for. And I am still super excited to visit Paris next month. I think one of the most important things we can do is to continue to live our lives and not give terrorists the pleasure of knowing they've gotten to us. I know that's easy for me to say since I haven't been directly impacted by any of their attacks, but I've gotta do something to keep moving on. If we let every terrible thing that happens in this world keep us inside, I don't think anyone would ever leave their house. The world is a scary place sometimes, so I just make sure I try to live every day with as much joy and laughter as I can and I eat plenty of chocolate because YOLO ;)

That's all I've got for ya! The next month is going to be interesting so I probably won't get another post up until January, but that one should be a really good one (think Thanksgiving, Christmas, Paris, York, family visiting and ALL that good stuff!) So until then, Happy Thanksgiving! I love you all very much and hope you're having a great day wherever you are in the world.

Cheers! :)
