Hanging with Jennifer Lawrence and Getting a New Job!

Image
I would first like to let it be known that I am writing this post while listening to Christmas music. Yes, I know it is still November. No, I don't care. I have had snowflake fairy lights up in my room since before Halloween. Okay, now that that's out of the way... We're less than a week from Thanksgiving! It's been a little strange planning Thanksgiving in London. On the one hand, it really isn't that hard to find normal Thanksgiving meal fare here in England (I've even found an abundance of cranberries which I almost started crying about when I first found them at Waitrose. I don't think I am helping to end the "crazy/stupid/weird American" stereotypes over here...) but it is just different. This is the first Thanksgiving I'll be spending away from my family, but on the other hand, I've stumbled upon another family (namely a bunch of other crazy/weird Americans attending the same Uni as me) which I am so grateful to have. And isn't ...

Day Trip to Dover Castle And The Famous White Cliffs

Image
Good morning! As you've probably noticed I changed the design of my blog (again)... I like this one though. It's cleaner, and anyone who knows me knows that my favourite colour combo is dark grey and Tiffany blue ;) Alright, on to the good stuff! Today marks five weeks in England! What?! I can't believe how quickly time is going! It really is starting to feel so natural being here and it's only every few days that it hits me again that I live here. I've fallen into routines with people and places and have finally started to relax about everything. My bank accounts are all sorted, I've got my Amazon Prime set up, I've got my favourite stores to shop at (H&M for clothes and Waitrose for food. Yes, I am a Waitrose snob. Sorry not sorry). My US loans have also finally come through (result!) so I can give my poor US credit card a break because it got quite the workout this past month. So let's see, what have I been up to lately... Well, I finally ...

Hello there! I finally got the photos from my phone uploaded to my computer and decided to post a few of the best ones here! Enjoy! We got matching Cath Kidston Oyster card holders. We're SO CUTE Selfie with the Shard! This was actually pretty difficult, but it turned out so cool! Selfie with The Eye! Random selfie. I think it just sums up that tourist day pretty well   Piccadilly Circus at night! So so cool The Shard. Woah Trafalgar Square looking all pretty in the sunshine St. Pancras station. The Harry Potter fan in me kinda...

I moved to London!

Greetings from London!! Seriously, that never gets old. Several times a day it hits me again that: 1. I am currently in London 2. I LIVE HERE NOW which means 3. I have a whole year to explore this amazing city! And trust me, there is plenty to explore. I have been in London for 8 days now, and am finally starting to feel like I'm adjusting to the time difference (7 hours ahead of Denver) and am finally  starting to feel settled. It's been a crazy week, between international student orientations, graduate student orientations, Sport Psychology orientations, and then trying to buy food and bedding and toiletries and keep my Oyster card topped up and getting a UK sim card so I can use google maps when I get lost (because it happens. This city is huge and there are so many people and buses and tubes and... well, you get it) and trying to find where laundry facilities are and getting my BRP (Biometric Residence Permit- kinda like a green card in the states- means I'm legal...

Time For An Update!

Hello there! It's been a very long time since I've posted on here, but mostly that's because my life has been in transition for the past few months and there hasn't been a whole lot to report. Until now that is... I believe now it is officially okay for me to post this on here: I'm moving to England! For real this time! I know I know, I've threatened this before, but this time I'm serious! I have the one way plane ticket to prove it. :) Last year when I visited the University of Roehampton, the reality of the decision to pick up my life and move to London was too much for me. I wasn't ready to leave my life here in Denver and start a whole new one across the Atlantic. So I deferred from the University for a year and decided to think about it. It honestly didn't take me very long to realize that going to grad school in the UK really was what I wanted to do. And then once I had my mind made up, it was (and still is) all I can think about. I just ...
